SOME DETAILS:

Lloyd Cole | Antidepressant - 2006: Most recent and a favourite session because we got the ideas down quickly and kept many of them as they were. Lloyd skyped me the demos and I charted them out then skyped him a few ideas back. When I went down to Northampton we pretty much did the takes live and in many cases improvised. I stuck pretty much exclusively to L's 335 with Antiquity pickups for both the standard electric guitar parts and the slide parts. I also played acoustic on New York City Sunshine.

lagoon
The Bathers | Lagoon Blues - 1993: I really like this album. One of the earlier Bathers album. I played on 4 or 5 tracks. Ave. the Leopards, Gracefruit, Never Too Late and The Sweetheart Sessions. Recorded at John Turner's place outside Edinburgh. I was just about to move to Toronto. Chris sat at the grand piano calling out the chords to Sweetheart as I played and surprisingly it worked. I used my Sans Amp straight into the desk. It was used that way on a few of the tracks on Bad Vibes as well. Amazing boxes. It's always a pleasure to work with Chris. Hopefully we will again.

lstory
Lloyd Cole | Love Story - 1995: I played on Baby, Sentimental Fool, Trigger Happy, I Didn't Know That You Cared, Happy For You, Be There, Unhappy Song and Crying Out Loud. All electric guitar. I played the solos on Sentimental Fool and Be There. Robert Quine played guitar on the other songs and he played the solo on I Didn't Know That You Cared. We took a great band out to tour this album, with Amanda Kramer, Rafa Maciejak and Chris Wilson and it can be heard on the Lloyd Cole Live at the BBC album. I had to learn all Bob Quine's parts for the tour as I had done for a previous tour in 1991. As a result I became quite acquainted with his style and phrasing which was brilliantly inventive. From what I gathered in our brief conversations he was a real scholar of Charlie Christian and early rock and roll players like Jimmy Reed, James Burton and Scotty Moore. I was quite in awe of him and he was always funny and educational to be around. Quine's solo on Waves Of Fear from Lou Reed Live at the Bottom Line is astonishing and everything that a great solo should be.
