Skype lessons would be paid in advance through PayPal. I think the best way to check the stability of the P2P connection would be to arrange a mutually agreeable time to try an initial 5 minute set-up connection before scheduling the actual lessons.

I have some spaces available now for guitar tuition. If you're interested you can email me via the form on the contact page or by clicking HERE. If you're in the Toronto area we can do standard face to face lessons but I'm also interested in using Skype or iChat video conferencing which would obviously open up the locational scope somewhat. Email me from the same place if you want to make an enquiry about that.

I suspect in most cases if you're at this site you know a bit about me however, to recap, I have 25 years experience as a professional guitar player and have played in most concert situations around the world from clubs to festivals via major concert halls and many T.V. shows. I think this gives me an appreciation of many of the real world playing situations we can find ourselves in.

In the lessons I'll try to concentrate on actual composing and playing situations e.g. understanding underlying harmony and song structure so that we can write and play supportive and interesting guitar parts - consequently the lessons would benefit someone already in a group and in a writing situation or someone who intends to be in that situation. However that is not in any way an absolute and whatever your playing level if you want to give it a go and are willing to put some time in that's great.

Lessons will be tailored to the individual but the broad scope will in most cases include technique strengthening exercises, study of harmony, scales and modes and their application, charting (writing and reading chords) and the study of great players work. Also, if relevant to you, we'll get into amplifier and effect set-up and usage. Ultimately, it's about developing your own voice.

For me the electric guitar is an amazing instrument in it's own right which should be much more than just an amplified acoustic. As guitarists we can't ignore the existence and contribution to the vocabulary of the instrument of such players as Jimi Hendrix, Bill Frisell, Ry Cooder, Ali Farka Toure, John McLaughlin, Derek Bailey, Sonny Sharrock, Jimmy Page, Johnny Marr, Johnny Greenwood and many, many others.

Look forward to hearing from you!
