Neil Clark is a Scottish born, Toronto based, guitarist and composer.

His career in music began, following graduation from Art School, as member of a number of Glasgow new-wave bands, including Newspeak, where amongst his co-band members were Creation records founder Alan McGee and future Primal Screamer, Andrew Innes. A meeting in 1983 with Lloyd Cole and Blair Cowan led to the formation of Lloyd Cole and the Commotions and within a year the band began to enjoy substantial national and international success with the release of their debut album, Rattlesnakes. Supported by a heavy touring schedule, two more studio albums - Easy Pieces and Mainstream - followed, before the group decided in 1990 to go their separate ways.

Clark's playing with the Commotions however had garnered attention and throughout the 1990's he worked with a diverse group of artists in the UK, France, Canada and the US. Since the break-up of the Commotions he has continued to record and tour regularly with Lloyd Cole, beginning with his solo albums, Bad Vibes and Love Story and continuing on through to his 2006 collection, Antidepressant.

In December 2008 acting on a desire to consolidate and develop his musical interests Neil released the album Sundogs. This was followed in April of this year by Second Story Sunlight. Both these works blend complimentary elements of post rock and jazz with 60's folk/rock and ambient electronica, Sundogs is a completely solo work focusing almost exclusively on a myriad of guitar tonalities while Second Story Sunlight develops the blend with a wider group sound and the addition of drummer Ambrose Pottie and bassist Alisdair Jones on three tracks.

Alongside his work as a guitarist Neil also writes for television and film.
